Position Summary:
The Director of Direct Online Marketing (DOM) is responsible for overseeing and managing all day-to-day activities for our direct marketing programs under search engine marketing, email marketing, and affiliate marketing. S/he, with her/his team of SEM, email and affiliate marketers, will work closely with the Merchandising, Brand Marketing, and Creative Services departments to maximize our return on investment for our direct online marketing programs. This candidate must have enough experience to manage professionals with diverse backgrounds in direct online marketing and have the ability to get things done.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee a team of diverse direct online marketing professionals to get things done.
- Identify and implement opportunities to enhance affiliate program, new growth opportunities and optimize ROI.
- Monitor affiliate activity, analyze performance, identify areas of improvement, and recommend ways to increase sales through direct online marketing.
- Communicate and monitor Zappos.com brand guidelines in the direct online channels.
- Recruit new affiliates, joint venture partners, and strategic partners.
- Oversee the development and distribution of marketing tools.
- Initiate new program ideas to constantly improve ROI.
- Represent Zappos.com to all direct marketing vendors and at all relevant tradeshows.
- Speak and conduct seminars at industry events.
- Manage top tier account relationships and develop affiliate management strategies.
- Manage internal stakeholder communications (cross departmental meetings)
- Teach and mentor junior level team members on all aspects of direct online marketing.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years direct online marketing experience.
- Have a sense of urgency, bias for action and ability to get things done.
- Have a highly analytical and scientific approach to direct online marketing. Take action based on metrics and ROI.
- BS/BA degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or business.
- Knowledge of ecommerce and internet-based business models.
- Experience evaluating creative messages, analyzing results and optimizing campaigns.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Candidate must have strong analytical and presentation skills, be detail oriented and a self-starter.
- Retail experience with search engine, online advertising, and/or direct marketing strongly preferred.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Products.
